Starting November 3, 2019, some iPhone and iPad units introduced in 2012 and in advance will require an iOS update to maintain accurate GPS region, date, and time, Apple explained in its blog.
If the affected gadgets are no longer up to date to the latest version before November 2, 2019, they might not be able to hold properly GPS function and functions which depend on the correct date and time such as iCloud syncing and fetching email might no longer work.
